Nephrology has become an important science with the emerging health problems related to Kidney diseases. Nephrology is a branch of medical science that concerns itself with the study of Kidney and its overall functioning. According to the Nephrology journal, it studies the healthy ways to the treatments that help the kidney to function normally. The diseases that affect the kidney are thoroughly studied here with the cause. They include glomerular disorders which affect the kidney filtration along with renal vascular diseases, autoimmune diseases, dialysis,acid-base imbalances, autoimmune diseases and Hydronephrosis. The one who specializes and treats the patients are referred to “Nephrologist”. They are trained in treating electrolyte disorders, hypertension along with administering dialysis.
Why is Nephrology as a study that important?
To know why Nephrology is important, you need to how kidney functions and why is it important.
Kidneys play a vital role due to their multiple functioning. Apart from removing the waste from the body, they stimulate the production of red blood cells in the body and also regulate the blood pressure. They absorb the minerals and help in calcium metabolism. If the kidneys are affected or untreated it may lead to chronic kidney diseases that include nephrology or even dialysis.
Since they filter so many toxics, they are easily prone to be affected if proper care is not taken. That’s the reason a lot of importance is given when it comes to the research of kidney related issues.Know more about Nephrology in detail through online Nephrology journal.
When the kidneys are affected they need a transplant. As per the Transplantation journal, transplant is a surgery where the damaged kidneys are removed and then replace with the healthy one. There are various ways by which a patient will be able to get a kidney from the donor. They include
Living donor: People who are of good health, known relative or family members can come forward to donate a kidney.
Deceased person: When a person is about to die, before a certain time, the organ is removed so that it can be transplanted to the one who needs them. They are removed only after the concerned person agrees to donate his or her organs.
Transplantation process: Before the transplant, the blood test of the individual is done to check if the blood and tissues match. Based on the match the organ is transplanted.
- If the patient blood group is A, then the doctors will be able to go with a donor who has the blood type “A” or “O”.
- If the patient blood group is B, then the doctors will be able to go with a donor who has blood type “B” or “O”.
- If the patient blood group is O, then the doctors will be able to go with a donor who has the same blood type “O”.
- If the patient blood group is “AB”, the doctors will be able to go with a donor who has the blood type “AB” or “O”.
As a result of the development and advancement in Nephrology science, a lot was made to prevent kidney diseases and the reduce the count of people who are getting affected with kidney diseases every year.We have other transplantation as well, know more about the different transplantations through Transplantation journal.
